If you want to trade as a self-employed book-keeper you will need to register for income tax and national insurance purposes with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

You should tell HMRC as soon as you start working as a self-employed book-keeper - you can't register in advance.

The easiest way to register is by phoning the HMRC newly self-employed helpline on 0845 915 4515. Ensure you have your national insurance number to hand before phoning.
